Project overview

The Methane Recovery Project Aben, Wanroij, North Brabant, The Netherlands captures methane from agricultural manure-management systems on participating farms in the Dutch agricultural heartland, before the gas can escape to the atmosphere. The methane is converted into less potent emissions or into usable biogas through controlled anaerobic digestion. The programme operates from facilities including Houbensteyn in Ysselsteyn (Limburg) and Aben in Wanroij (North Brabant), and is registered with Verra under VCS 335, with sister registrations 336 and 337 covering the wider programme.

The programme avoids an estimated 42,000 tCO₂e per year on average and processes thousands of tonnes of local agricultural and agro-industrial waste each year. Methodologies applied include AMS-III.D, AMS-I.C, and AMS-III.AO.
