We are delighted to announce that the planting process of our afforestation project in Cameroon has officially commenced. Head ecologist Nicholas Wall and country project manager Theo Oben, along with our CEO Selwyn Duijvestijn, have successfully planted the first batch of trees in the project site. This marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts towards nature conservation and restoration.
The initial planting of the trees is an essential step towards the ultimate goal of planting 1.2 million trees in the project site by May of next year. We are optimistic that this afforestation project will contribute to mitigating the effects of deforestation in Cameroon, while also promoting biodiversity and providing socio-economic benefits to the local communities.
