Dutch Green Business Group NV (“DGB” of “de Groep”) (Euronext: DGB: NL0009169515), een toonaangevende projectontwikkelaar van CO2-projecten gericht op natuur- en ecosysteemherstel, heeft twee belangrijke mijlpalen bereikt in de ontwikkeling van het Hongera Energy Efficient Cookstove Project in Kenia (het "Project").
Op 31 augustus 2022 heeft een gerenommeerde koper (de ¨Koper¨) zich ertoe verbonden om 507.720 CO2-credits van het project te kopen en hiermee 100% van alle kapitaaluitgaven voor te financieren door DGB € 1,7 miljoen aan vooruitbetaling te verstrekken.
Het Project omvat de productie en distributie van 150.000 energie-efficiënte kookfornuizen en is ontworpen als een CO2-reductieproject onder de Gold Standard-methodologie ''''Technologies and Practices to Displace Decentralized Thermal Energy Consumption''. Het projectontwerp is reeds gemaakt en de eerste kookfornuizen zijn nu geproduceerd. Voor het behalen van deze mijlpalen ontving DGB €600.000.
De Koper is van plan om haar deel van de credits na verificatie te gebruiken om de CO2-voetafdruk van haar organisatie te compenseren. DGB verwacht de resterende verwachte 1,3 miljoen CO2-reductiecredits (ongeveer 70,25% van het Project) te verkopen op de open vrijwillige CO2-markt na de eerste uitgifte van de credits in Q3 2023. De huidige gemiddelde prijs voor geverifieerde CO2-reductieprojecten van projecten van energie-efficiënte kookfornuizen is $10,50 per ton CO2e.
Het Project is één van de vijf projecten van DGB in de projectpijplijn, met in totaal meer dan 27,2 miljoen ton verwachte geverifieerde CO2-emissiereductie.
