Nashwhite isn’t your average salon. Founded in 2010 as a humble two-chair studio, it has grown into The Heist House in Warwick, UK—a vibrant creative hub where hairdressing meets wellness, coffee culture, yoga, and art. More than a place for cuts and colour, Nashwhite has become a lifestyle destination for locals and visitors alike, combining effortless style with a strong sense of community.

But while Nashwhite began as hairdressers, they don’t cut corners when it comes to sustainability. From the start, co-founders Lee Nash-Jones and Rob White envisioned a business that exceeded industry expectations—not just in design and creativity, but in responsibility to people and the planet. That’s why they’ve embedded community care, recycling, and carbon reduction into their ethos.
As part of this mission, Nashwhite partnered with DGB Group to compensate for its unavoidable emissions. Its offsets directly support DGB’s Hongera Energy Efficient Cookstoves Project in Kenya—an initiative that reduces CO₂ emissions, protects biodiversity, and improves health and livelihoods across communities.
Read our exclusive interview with Nashwhite, where they share how they integrate environmental responsibility into their operations, and why partnering with DGB Group plays a central role in their strategy.
Can you tell us more about Nashwhite and why sustainability is important to your company?
Nashwhite began as a two-chair salon and evolved into a big, multi-modal space boasting 16 chairs, a yoga and photography studio, a cafe, a coworking space, and treatment rooms. From inception, we wanted to be a more circular salon—taking into account not only our clientele, but the world they came from. While hair salons are not known for their ethical standards, we wanted to change this. In 2024, we got our B-Corp certification (one of only three salons in the UK!), and this year, we completely offset our previous year's emissions with DGB. It can be done!

What sustainability targets have you set, and how are you working towards achieving these targets?
We wanted to ensure our main operations were sourced from ethical or renewable sources, and that our suppliers were either B Corp certified (as we know the rigorous refining process businesses have to go through to achieve this) or had the heart of sustainability in mind. So far, our energy is 100% matched by renewable sources, and 80% of our suppliers are B Corp certified. Our goal is to keep offsetting the emissions we cannot reduce ourselves with DGB. One year down—many more to go!

What motivated Nashwhite to compensate for its carbon footprint with DGB Group?
We already knew we wanted to address our emissions. In our industry, though we’ve tried our best, it's nearly impossible to internally reduce everything. This may change in the future, but for now, we’re still in the progression stage. We didn’t want this to be an excuse not to do anything further. So, what we couldn’t do ourselves, we decided to outsource to reputable companies like DGB. After speaking to several different businesses, we decided we are most aligned with DGB because of its sincere approach towards not only sustainability, but also helping others as part of its mission.
What were your key considerations when selecting the Hongera Energy Efficient Cookstoves Project for your carbon compensation?
To be honest, as a smaller business, our first constraint was budget. We didn’t want to use it as an excuse, but we certainly needed to factor this into our business plan. We also wanted to source our offsetting from countries that would benefit from it the most—places like East Asia and Africa. When our sustainability lead, Gaby, spoke to DGB’s experts about the Hongera Energy Efficient Cookstoves Project, she was deeply moved by all the effort going into the initiative. From ideation to development to how it truly served the people and environment involved—it ticked every single box we could think of.

How does this initiative align with Nashwhite's broader sustainability goals and values?
One of our key foundations before sustainability is community. We want to help the people—real people. Everyday people. This project does exactly that. We do things in our business that cater to the community immediately around us—free runs clubs, market days for independent businesses, yoga retreats—so the opportunity to have a hand in helping people across the world was exciting for us.

What message would you like to share with other businesses considering similar actions?
You are not too small—nor your industry too far gone—to make a difference. Every little move counts. Starting with one step ultimately makes you want to take another. And what is a marathon but a series of steps? The best thing to do is just start.

At Nashwhite, they are experts in wellness and body care, but this partnership isn’t just a brand facelift—it’s been part of their DNA since day one. Their support for the Hongera Energy Efficient Cookstoves Project is a natural extension of their community-first ethos. By distributing cleaner, more efficient stoves to households in Kenya, the project reduces harmful indoor air pollution, protects forests, and cuts emissions. Just as importantly, it frees up time and improves health for thousands of families, particularly women and children.

The choice was deliberate: Nashwhite wanted their compensation efforts to go beyond numbers, reaching real people and making tangible differences. Just as they’ve built a hub where locals can connect, create, and thrive, their offsets now help communities abroad live healthier, more resilient lives.
Nashwhite proves that even small businesses can take bold action—not by a whisker, but by making a big impact on nature conservation. And with DGB’s wide portfolio of high-integrity, nature-based carbon credit projects, every business has the opportunity to directly contribute to protecting ecosystems, restoring biodiversity, and securing a healthier planet for the future.
